This unit has no monthly fees - lifetime plus service activation fee has been paid  (~$299 to $399 value) This lifetime unit is a great value when you consider Tivo's current prepay plans and monthly rates offered on new units.  This unit is in good condition both functionally and cosmetically, but may have some minor scuffs/scratches.  The TIVO unit has been tested to verify it is in good working order.  It successfully completed test calls to the TIVO network via USB ethernet/phone connections and is properly outputing video and audio.  It has been upgraded with a quiet, high capacity (320GB) Maxtor hard drive for up to 402 hours of record time.  This is basically a Seagate drive marketed under the Maxtor name (Seagate bought out Maxtor some time ago, but is still selling drives under the Maxtor brand name).  The hard drive is covered under manufacturer's warranty through June 26, 2011.   Please see representative photo (below). Single vs. Dual tuner info:  These units are single tuner model TCD240xxx (where xxx is drive capacity).  If you want a dual tuner series 2 unit you'll need a model TCD649080 or TCD649180 .  The dual tuner model is best suited for a basic analog cable user who doesn't need or use a cable box.  If some of your channel line up is digital and requires a cable box then the dual tuner function will be limited to tuning one digital channel and one analog channel concurrently or two analog channels concurrently.  Note that some providers like Verizon FIOS are going all digital which renders the dual tuning in the TCD640xxx models useless.  For series 2 units it may not be worth the extra dollars to get a dual tuner model unless you know your provider is going to maintain its basic channels in analog format. Activation/setup information When you receive the unit it will already be activated with Product Lifetime service and will be reset so it starts up with the guided setup. All you'll have to do is cable it up and follow the on-screen directions to configure it for your service provider. If you want to add the unit to an existing account you'll need to call Tivo customer service. The Tivo transfer policy is documented on their support website and states "Product Lifetime Service accompanies the DVR, not the owner.
