Recently tested, at first, having not been used for years, it malfunctioned a couple of times, rejecting the LD without playing. However, thereafter, perfect LD operation, time and time again, and perfect CD operation from the first test.  I'm not sure the remote is the original one which came with the unit, since I never got the manual.  The model no. of the remote is CU-CLD088, it is very sophisticated, works fine with this unit, and it has a light switch so control in the dark is easy. Cosmetically, near perfect, as seen in the picture. Face is very shiny, and would be perfect, but for one small scratch to the lower left side, almost invisible, right next to the on/off switch.
